婚姻监礼人委任申请

The Marriage Ordinance (Cap. 181) empowers the Registrar of Marriages to appoint Civil Celebrants of Marriages.

Regarding eligibility criteria, please refer to section 5A and Schedule 4 of the Marriage Ordinance.

Upon appointment, the Civil Celebrants of Marriages, who are also solicitors, will be bound not only by the Hong Kong Solicitors' Guide to Professional Conduct but also by the Code of Practice for Civil Celebrants issued by the Registrar of Marriages.

1. Employed Solicitors
   
   Employed solicitors may apply to the Law Society for a Certificate of Standing by submitting a completed application form pdf, a statutory declaration doc declaring that they have been providing legal services to their employers for not less than 7 years and by paying a fee of HK$3,000 to the Law Society.
2. Solicitors who have been employed and in practice
   
   Solicitors who at different times during the 7-year period have both been employed and in practice may apply for a Certificate of Standing by submitting a completed application form pdf, a statutory declaration doc with particulars of their employment history and by paying a fee of HK$3,000 to the Law Society.
3. Solicitors in Practice
   
   Solicitors in practice may apply for a Certificate of Standing by submitting a completed application form pdf and by paying a fee of HK$3,000 to the Law Society.

1. All solicitors who are subject to the CPD Scheme and who have been appointed as Civil Celebrant of Marriages are entitled to claim 3 CPD points for their attendance at the requisite training course organized by the Registrar of Marriages in the CPD practice year in which their appointment was gazetted. 
2. Solicitors who wish to claim the 3 CPD points should record it in their own CPD Training Record.
