The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

The 27th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation and the Hong Kong Investment Promotion Conference (“Conference”) was held from 20 to 21 September in Beijing. As a side event of the Conference, the 27th Beijing-Hong Kong Fair Professional Services Xicheng District Special Event (“Event”) was held on 21 September.
Immediate Past President C. M. Chan was invited to be a keynote speaker. He talked about Beijing-Hong Kong cooperation and future expectations, and explained how the Hong Kong legal community can support Beijing enterprises in going global.
Separately, Past President and Legislative Council member Ambrose Lam and Member of the Arbitration Committee of the Law Society Eric Woo were invited to be the Event’s keynote speaker and a speaker of the roundtable session.
Held under the theme “Wisdom Convergence between Beijing and Hong Kong: Progressing Together in Harmony”, the Event attracted more than 100 participants.
