On 30 August, Vice-President Careen Wong led around 30 members to attend GBA Express (Zhuhai): The 4th Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Enterprise Legal Services Forum (“Forum”).

The Forum was organised by Guangdong Lawyers Association and hosted by Zhuhai Lawyers Association, under the theme “Convergence of High-Quality Legal Services to Promote the Development of New Quality Productive Forces”. The Forum consisted of three sub-forums. Vice-President Careen Wong was invited to speak on “Foreign-related Rule of Law: How Outbound Enterprises Can Mitigate Legal Risks” at sub-forum one. In her speech, she emphasised the strengths of Hong Kong solicitors in dealing with foreign-related legal matters and our international networks, positioning ourselves as good partners for Mainland enterprises going global.

Another highlight of the Forum was the Greater Bay Area Mock Trial, which was attended by representatives of the Law Society, including Council member Ronald Sum and Council member and Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee Neville Cheng. Council member Justin Yuen was also invited to speak on “The Commercial Arbitration Mechanism under Hong Kong Common Law” at sub-forum two.

Apart from participating in the Forum, the Law Society’s delegation also attended the dinner to engage in exchange with representatives from major law firms in Guangzhou.

This was the third event under the “GBA Express” series, following previous visits to Foshan and Guangzhou.
