The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and co-organised by the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province as well as Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, SmartHK Nanjing was held in Nanjing on 28 August. The Law Society was one of the supporting organisations.
In the thematic session on “Seizing new investment opportunities and exploring new overseas business opportunities”, Mr Brian Ho, Member of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee, was invited to be one of the speakers. The Law Society designated two young members, namely Ms Sharon Tam, Chairlady of the Greater China Legal Affairs Young Solicitors Sub-Committee (“Sub-Committee”), and Ms Fiona Chan, Member of the Sub-Committee, to participate in the exhibition.
Representatives from domestic enterprises and relevant government departments were eager to learn about Hong Kong’s legal services, and expressed their specific needs for Hong Kong’s legal services, such as financing and listing procedures, dispute resolution, and arbitration etc.
