The Law Society and Taoyuan Bar Association (“TYBA”) signed a cooperation agreement on 9 July 2024. A delegation of 6 representatives, led by Mr. Kassy Chang, President of TYBA, visited the Law Society and signed the cooperation agreement.
Representatives of the Law Society included President Roden Tong, Vice-President Careen Wong, Council member and Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee (“GCLAC”) Neville Cheng, Council member and Vice-Chairlady of GCLAC Heidi Chui, Vice-Chairman of GCLAC James Wong and Secretary General Heidi Chu.
Following the exchange on the overview of the legal professions and the structure of the profession in Hong Kong and Taoyuan, the two parties had an in-depth exchange on various topics.
The signing of the cooperation agreement took place after the meeting, symbolising a strengthened partnership between the two lawyers' associations in advancing legal development. Afterwards, members from the Council and GCLAC had a dinner with the delegation to facilitate further exchanges in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Law Society and TYBA agreed to co-organise courses and events for young lawyers and students in the future.
