The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

On 15 June 2024, the 13th Joint Meeting for Lawyers‘ Associations in the GBA hosted by Guangdong Lawyers Association (“GDLA”) was successfully held in Guangzhou. Representatives of the Law Society included President Roden Tong, Vice-President Careen Wong, Council member and Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee (“GCLAC”) Neville Cheng, Vice-Chairman of the GCLAC James Wong, as well as Secretary General Heidi Chu.
At the meeting, President Roden Tong introduced the Professional Indemnity Scheme (“PIS”). He said the PIS plays an important role in upholding the confidence of the public in engaging professional legal services of Hong Kong law firms.
Other items discussed at the meeting included launching an internship programme for lawyers in the GBA, improving the training system and measures for cross-border transportation for GBA Lawyers, as well as various upcoming events to be held by different lawyers’ associations.
The 13th Joint Meeting was held at Guangzhou Lawyers Building in Guangzhou.
