The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

To support the Justice Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality in promoting the integration of legal practitioners in Hong Kong into the legal profession of the GBA and introduce the legal services in Guangzhou, the International Probono Legal Services Association Limited organised the “Seminar on the In-depth Integration and Development of Legal Services in Guangzhou and Hong Kong” on 23 January 2024. The Law Society was one of the supporting organisations of this event.
Then President C. M. Chan, then Vice-President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee (“GCLAC”) Roden Tong, Council Member and GCLAC Member Careen Wong, Council Member and GCLAC Vice-Chairman Neville Cheng, as well as GCLAC Vice-Chairman James Wong joined the seminar as representatives of the Law Society. Meanwhile, some members of the Law Society also attended the event in their personal capacity. At the seminar, then President C. M. Chan delivered a keynote speech on Hong Kong’s legal industry, as well as the roles of Hong Kong lawyers in the GBA.
